Both kids had their third lesson of the season today (and ever) today, are riding chair lifts, and totally enjoying it. Looks like I’m in for many years of buying gear and passes. But it’s tons of fun out there with them. So... can someone grant me PowderForward authorship please?

I’ll see your two and double it (four kids). Yes, it is expensive, which is why we specifically search out  less expensive places like Santa Fe. It helps that the whole family loves the city as well.

Why do you think I drive a 13 year old mazda with rusting fenders?

I added you to the list of authors, I’m not that good at this mod thing , I think it worked.

A lot of places have ski for free for kids under a certain age or season passes at a certain grade. Second/third hand gear for kids as they will outgrow it mid season. I would say I probably have some old skis at my parents house I would send them b ut I’m pretty they are straight and not parabolic. Good luck with it though! My parents met skiing and my brothers and I taking it up certainly cut in to them ever going.

Yeah they should be in free passes at the local hill for a while yet. But still I can see it looming in the future. Plus all the trips out to more expensive places north of here.  I’m thinking either closeout gear that I can resell for an OK fraction of what I pay or just third hand stuff.  When I was a teenager I had to buy all my own stuff with my gas station job money so I was pretty good at finding deals... just have to relearn that skill!

Skiing was a lot more affordable when I learned in the sixties.

I feel your pain. I took my three last week for the first time and they were naturals. Now my 9 and 6 year olds want to go back to the hill every weekend.

Problem is that my son plays hockey and my girls both dance so I told them we could get season passes and buy a cabin near the resort so we can go every weekend if they quit hockey and dance. Now they “only want to go one weekend a month” hahahaha.

Kids ... amirite?!?!?! Gotta get rich I guess.
